The Winston Avenue Movie – Part 1

Part rehearsal, part gig, part rock flick, The Winston Avenue Movie was The Cadillac Babies in their natural environment: on stage, at home and driving real fast.

Shot on location at Winston Avenue by long-time band associate Nick Slob, the movie opens with the only remaining footage of the Babies on BTV’s The Tube, blistering through their standard set opener, Repo Man.

The action switches indoors to the band’s pad for Brand New Cadillac – and the only remaining footage of the fabulous High School Harlots and the self-styled manager Trigger Raine. You can almost smell the condensation running down the walls…

Coming next: The Winston Avenue Movie – Part 2: On The Landing.

Tape of The Cadillac Babies’ first gig surfaces

The rare tape has been discovered by a slightly hungover Slim underneath some Doll Noodles in the first week of the new year.

Recorded at their debut gig in Chapel in Weymouth, the dusty cassette is the earliest taped Cadillacs performance and features the additional vocal talents of Nick Slob and The High School Harlots.

This, erm, priceless artefact is now in the safe fingers of Marky P who, along with acclaimed producer Johnny Dread (aka Johnny Chong), is digitally remastering the tape. As Chong, I mean Dread, says: “There’s nothing like a good bit of new wave.”
